Defendant, Clyde Gunn, was tried before a jury for the offense of murder of Willie Butler in violation of section 9-1 of the Criminal Code (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1971, ch. 38, par. 9-1). The jury returned a verdict of guilty, the court entered judgment thereon, and sentenced defendant to a term of not less than 25 years nor more than 60 years in the penitentiary.
