Billy Ray Hall, petitioner, pleaded guilty to charges of forgery at the September, 1968, session of the Gaston County, North Carolina Superior Court, and was sentenced to seven years in prison. The sentence was suspended for five years and Hall was placed on probation for five years under the supervision of the North Carolina Probation Commission.
