This seaman's action for damages for personal injuries allegedly caused by defendant's negligence and the unseaworthiness of its dredge was tried by a jury in the Southern District of New York and resulted in a verdict awarding $500,000 damages to the plaintiff, which was reduced to $250,000 by reason of plaintiff's contributory negligence. Defendant appeals, contending that plaintiff failed to prove that the alleged negligence and unseaworthiness...
