Plaintiff, Robert H. Buffington, an Iowa farmer, recovered a verdict in the amount of $7,000 for injury to his 1969 corn crop following his use of a 2, 4-D post-emergent herbicide. The chemical was made by the defendant Amchem Products, Inc. The actual product Buffington used was Amchem Weedone LV-4 (described as a butoxy-Ethanol formulation 2, 4-D).
