Defendant-appellant Joseph Scheer and one Jerry Stilley were arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of an off-duty police officer during an attempted holdup of a bar in Denver on March 10, 1962. As a result of a plea bargain, Scheer pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and he was sentenced to life imprisonment on the same day his plea was accepted, November 27...
