BRIGHT, Circuit Judge.

Charles Hampton stands convicted after a jury trial on two counts of distribution of heroin in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1). The district court sentenced Hampton to five years' imprisonment and a three-year parole term on each count, to be served concurrently, but suspended the prison sentence and placed him on probation for five years.
