KELLEHER, J.

The plaintiff in this negligence action seeks compensation for damages sustained as the result of a collision between his Volkswagen sedan and a two-door Pontiac sedan owned and operated by the defendant. A nonjury trial was held in the Superior Court. The trial justice found for the plaintiff and awarded him $20,000 in damages. In his appeal, the defendant takes no issue with the award but concentrates his fire on the liability phase...
