For personal injuries caused by fragments of an exploding bottle, plaintiff Maurine Edwards sued Springfield Coca-Cola Bottling Company, a corporation (hereinafter "Coke"), and Thrifty Foodliner, Inc. (hereinafter "IGA"). In the course of a three-day jury trial, defendant IGA paid plaintiff $12,500 (which was in addition to voluntary pretrial payments aggregating $4,947.96), whereupon plaintiff voluntarily dismissed as to IGA and executed a covenant...
