Doyle Franklin Earls was tried and convicted in the Criminal Court of the second degree murder of Richard Lynn Barger, a seventeen year old boy. The defendant perfected an appeal to the Court of Criminal Appeals, who reversed the conviction on the ground that certain evidence had been improperly admitted due to an illegal search and seizure.
