KAUS, P.J.

(1) The question is whether a petition for a writ of "administrative" mandate (Code Civ. Proc., § 1094.5), filed 71 days after a decision of the Director of the Department of Motor Vehicles ("director" — "department") suspending an operator's license, is untimely under applicable statutory provisions. We hold that it is not and reverse the superior court's dismissal of the petition.
