The plaintiff's wife purchased tickets for the dance to be held at the Augusta State Armory on December 31, 1966. This New Year's Eve event was a traditional affair with the Libbys and, following a reception with friends at their home where intoxicating beverages were served, Mr. and Mrs. Libby were driven to the Armory by one of their guests and his wife.
