On July 11, 1967, John Edward Shequin, a minor, through his guardian ad litem, entered a plea of guilty to a charge of second degree murder in the Chittenden County Court. He was initially charged with first degree murder. Mr. Shequin was sentenced on July 27, 1967, to serve not less than 35 years, nor more than 40 years, in the Vermont State Prison in Windsor, Vermont.
