FAULKNER, Justice.

There is a small mobile home on Uniroyal Road, Lee County, Alabama. It was here, on January 29, 1971, that William David Kittrell shot James Robert Stearns to death.

There are many unusual details in the case. It appears that Kittrell, a 30-year-old truck driver, had been thrown out of his house by his wife, and went to stay with his friend Stearns, 45 years of age, in the mobile home. Kittrell...
