Early in 1971, Michelle Cadeaux, the appellee, did what thousands of Americans do every year — she bought a car. Unlike many of her compatriots, however, she was so unhappy with her purchase that within six months she stopped driving the car and in another year she was in court suing the appellant, Lustine Chevrolet, for breach of contract, breach of warranty, and fraud.
