After a jury trial in Chenango County Court in 1970, petitioner Leonard A. Wade was convicted of having committed in the City of Norwich the crimes of arson in the second degree, burglary in the second degree, grand larceny in the third degree and possession of weapons and dangerous instruments and appliances.
