MEREDITH, Chief Judge.
Petitioner brought this action pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254, alleging that he is being detained under a conviction and sentence that is illegal and void in that it is based on a verdict that was rendered in a trial in which certain of his constitutional rights were violated.
