Petitioner, Stidham, and one, Richard L. Long, were convicted in the Fayette County, Kentucky, Circuit Court on a charge of armed robbery of a liquor store, and were sentenced to twenty years' imprisonment. They did not appeal from their conviction. Subsequently, they filed a motion to vacate sentence under Kentucky's post-conviction procedures (R.Cr. 11.42), which motion was denied by the Circuit Court. On appeal to Kentucky's highest court...
