This case presents us with a distressingly familiar situation — the possession of a dangerous weapon by one attempting to board an airliner. On May 17, 1972, Vinicio Ruiz-Estrella was preparing to board a Miami-bound National Airlines flight at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
