PAOLINO, Justice.

This is a civil action in which the plaintiff seeks to recover damages for personal injuries sustained by him, on certain premises owned by the defendant, as a result of the latter's alleged negligence in allowing snow and ice to accumulate on the rear walk approaching the back steps, and on the back steps entering the rear of the dwelling, a common passageway for tenants and persons lawfully upon the premises.
