On September 1, 1967 the Board of Education of Union Free School District No. 23 of the Town of Oyster Bay, New York, hired respondent as a teacher of general science at the Junior High School level. On May 20, 1968 respondent requested that his teaching assignment be changed from general science to social studies. This request was granted effective September 1, 1968.
