Before entering judgment, the trial judge heard testimony from the victim, Albert Gay, Jr.; Milton McLin, a deputy sheriff of Edgecombe County; and co-defendants O'Berry and Russell. Defendant Blake chose not to testify. There was no material conflict in any of this testimony.
