On March 1, 1969, respondent, Delsa Ann Snipe, brought her 3-year-old daughter Sonja Christol to the Modesto City Hospital for treatment. The child had been brutally beaten on February 26, 1969, and had sustained a complete rupture of the duodenum, causing leakage of the bowel contents; it was the medical opinion that a massive blow to the abdomen caused the rupture...
