On March 29, 1968, the National Labor Relations Board (Labor Board) conducted a representation election among the production and maintenance employees of the Thomas Engine Company (Thomas). The election tally showed 74 votes for the United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers (the Union), 76 votes against union representation, and 7 challenged ballots.
