On April 20, 1956, plaintiff's husband suffered the loss of both of his lower legs when the motortruck he was driving was struck by one of defendant's locomotives at a crossing of defendant railroad in the village of Gregory, Livingston County, Michigan. Plaintiff's husband filed a court action and obtained a judgment for his damages.
