(1) Petitioner served for 23 years as a fireman for the City of Richmond. He retired May 30, 1968 for physical disabilities arising only from defects of vision and hearing. On September 21, 1969, more than 15 months after his retirement, he sustained a myocardial infarction which was disabling.
