OPINION

JOSLIN, Justice.

This civil action was brought by Dorothea Enos and her husband to recover for personal injuries suffered by Dorothea and consequential damages sustained by her husband. The case was tried before a jury in the Superior Court, and, at the close of the plaintiffs' case, the defendant, without resting, moved for a directed verdict.
