These two civil actions, both of which arose out of the same industrial accident, were consolidated for purposes of trial. A six-day jury trial was had and the defendants in both cases moved for a directed verdict pursuant to Rule 50, Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, both at the end of plaintiff's cases and at the conclusion of all the evidence.
