On 5 July 1971 the courts of limited jurisdiction of Maryland, composed of a hodgepodge of magistrates, justices of the peace, People's Courts, the Municipal Court of Baltimore City and the Housing Court of Baltimore County, were supplanted by the District Court of Maryland with uniform jurisdiction throughout the State.1 This was accomplished by amendments to the Constitution of Maryland ...
