The appellant Whitlock was convicted of perjury in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1621, the alleged offense having been committed during an earlier trial in the same court in the District of Utah. The first trial resulted in the conviction of Whitlock for a violation of the Mann Act, 18 U.S.C. § 2421, the unlawful transportation of a woman in interstate commerce for the purpose of prostitution.
