The defendant was found guilty of first degree murder on November 23, 1963, after a trial under G.L.c. 278, §§ 33A-33G, and was sentenced to life imprisonment. His motion for new trial and a claim of appeal were filed on November 27, 1963. The motion for new trial was denied on December 10, 1963, and the defendant claimed an exception and an appeal on December 12, 1963.
