On December 2, 1970, Joyce Lucille Kidwell, through the State's Attorney's Office for Montgomery County, filed a petition for determination of paternity and support against Paul Raymond Downes. The petition alleged that the appellant was the father of a female child, Katrina Downes, born to complainant on February 27, 1961. On February 25, 1971, a jury trial was conducted by Judge Irving A.
