On September 24, 1968, following a two-day trial, the defendant was found guilty by a jury of larceny, receiving stolen goods and conspiracy. At the request of counsel for defendant, sentence was deferred pending his decision as to whether or not a motion for a new trial would be filed. In due course, on October 1, 1968, such a motion, as well as a motion in arrest of judgment, was duly filed. Some delay was occasioned by the unavailability...
