This proceeding was commenced on the 12th day of May, 1969, shortly subsequent to the enactment of the Uniform Post-Conviction Procedure Act, now codified as Secs. 17-601, et seq. Appellant's petition, prepared without the benefit of counsel, sought a writ of habeas corpus.
