The State of Utah here seeks reversal of a judgment of the District Court releasing from custody the appellee, Gary L. Reed, pursuant to a habeas corpus petition brought pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 2254. The court found that the confession of the accused was given without adequate warnings and, further, that the subsequent plea of guilty was involuntarily entered — that it was induced by the promises of the arresting and sheriff...
