When his ex-wife died, Howard T. Harstad stopped paying alimony. The executor of her estate brought suit to enforce payment of the balance still due of the divorce decree's initial award of alimony to the wife. The trial court concluded that the monthly payments described as alimony in the divorce decree constituted a division of property so that the obligation survived the death of Mrs. Harstad.
