This action was initiated by a number of music publishing companies seeking to permanently enjoin the unauthorized manufacture and sale of tape recordings which serve to mechanically reproduce many of their copyrighted works. In attacking this practice referred to in the trade as "bootlegging", "disklegging" or "pirating", the publishing companies invoke jurisdiction under section 1 et seq. of the Copyright Act...
