The defendant, Richard C. Jennings, was convicted of the offense of battery, a misdemeanor, in the circuit court of Cook County. He was granted probation for one year with the first 120 days to be served in the House of Correction. No appeal was taken from this judgment, but the defendant, with new counsel, filed a petition under section 72 of the Civil Practice Act (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1969...
