Defendants own a farm in Ingham County consisting of 145 acres. It formerly belonged to Mr. Frederick's mother, now deceased. When she owned the farm, the State Highway Department took a portion of it to improve US 127. As a result of this taking, seven acres east of the highway containing the farm buildings was cut off from the rest of the farm.
