This action was commenced initially by William L. Marsh, Jr., a former seaman on the steamer James E. Ferris, to recover damages for personal injuries allegedly sustained on October 21, 1967, when the Ferris was in collision with the steamer Ernest T. Weir in the St. Clair River in Canadian waters.
