Mr. Duggan and Mr. Phillipe (fn. 2), each an attorney, brought separate actions of contract against the city and Taunton Municipal Light Plant Commission (commission) and others (fn. 1) to recover amounts allegedly owed them for legal services to the commission under written contracts, each dated December 14, 1965, in the form described in the margin.3 A demurrer to each declaration
