This is a condemnation proceeding brought by the Port of Newport to acquire real property from the defendant Marguerite Haydon. She was the owner of a small parcel of real property situated on the north shore of Yaquina Bay lying above the mean high water line of that bay. The purpose of the trial was to determine the amount and value of the land. The jury returned a verdict awarding defendant $3,000 as just compensation for the taking of her land. Subsequently...
