CARRICO, Justice.

This appeal involves an action for slander and use of insulting words brought by Jean Young, the plaintiff, against The Kroger Company and Avery Pendleton, the defendants. A jury trial resulted in a verdict in favor of the plaintiff in the sum of $25,000. The verdict was approved by the trial court, and we granted the defendants a writ of error.
