FITZGERALD, J.

Defendant was arrested and charged with robbery armed,1 assault with intent to commit murder,2 and rape.3 All three charges grew out of an incident in Detroit on April 9, 1967. It was alleged that on that date appellant entered the apartment of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Dunning, threatened repeatedly to kill them, robbed them, beat them both severally, and raped Mrs....
