In 1956, George Nawrocki was convicted of uttering and publishing a forged check. In 1967, the Michigan Court of Appeals reversed Nawrocki's conviction and ordered a new trial. Thereafter, the prosecutor dismissed the charges by entering a nolle prosequi. Nawrocki then brought a civil action against Eberhard Foods, certain of the employees of Eberhard Foods, and the City of Grand Rapids, alleging that he was falsely arrested and imprisoned, resulting...
