The defendant was convicted of driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor, following an accident which occurred in Nashua on March 12, 1970 at approximately 1:42 A.M. In the course of the trial he moved to strike the testimony of the arresting officer that the defendant had admitted that he was the driver of the vehicle, upon the ground that he was given no prior warning of his right to remain silent.
