On the evening of April 19, 1967, James Phares left his home in Warren, Michigan, to go to work. At about 7 o'clock the following morning when he returned, he found his wife, Judy Ann Phares, lying in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor. She was dead of multiple stab wounds.
