Maryland Port Authority (the Authority) is a "body politic and corporate," established by the General Assembly in 1956, Maryland Code, 1957 (1968 Repl. Vol.) Art. 62 B (the Act). Among the powers with which the Authority is vested by § 5 of the Act are the powers:
