This is an appeal from a judgment holding Ellis in contempt of court "for shouting and banging [his] fist on [the] bench" during the trial of a civil action in which Ellis appeared as defendant.1 The litigation arose over a dispute about Ellis' right to possession of certain papers alleged to belong to the plaintiff.
