Defendant appeals from his conviction of the crime of grand larceny by check. Defendant's counsel, who was appointed to represent him on appeal, has filed a motion requesting permission to withdraw as counsel in accordance with Anders v. California, 386 U.S. 738, 18 L.Ed.2d 493, 87 S.Ct. 1396 (1967). Counsel's motion is based upon his opinion that "any appeal would be without merit and frivolous."
