On February 6, 1967, defendant Eugene Thouin's 1960 armed robbery1 conviction was set aside and a new trial granted.

On March 27, 1967, defendant, through appointed counsel, entered a plea of guilty to an added count of unarmed robbery.2 The record of this plea hearing is as follows:

"The Court: We have criminal matters?

"Mr. Pantel: May it please the court...
